How to Back Up Data and Find a Good Data Recovery Company

August 8th, 2008

There are about as many ways to perform data recovery as there are files and systems in the computing world.

The most important thing to know when it comes to data recovery is how to prevent ever needing to perform it. Having a separate backup for critical data is vital and there are many ways to go about doing this. The easiest way is to simply save data to an external device, such as a tape drive. You can perform the same function with a CD-R drive and burn your data to a CD whenever necessary. On the other end of the spectrum are the software and hardware solutions specifically geared toward keeping your data secure and always available. Many of the companies that offer data recovery services also provide software tools that will assist you in backing up data on your system, keeping it free from virus attacks, accidental deletion or other system failures. The type of backup system you need will depend upon the criticality of your data. Of course, it may not seem critical until its gone, so at the very least, it is a good idea to save a copy of things like your “My Documents” folder on an external device every few months.

So what do you do if you haven’t been using a backup plan and your system crashes or a virus wipes out your files? You will probably have to call in the pros at this time. There are many companies that specialize in recovering data from any type of media for just about any type of system failure. Some of the companies also specialize in recovering certain types of files that have been corrupted. For example, if you have a corrupted Microsoft Excel file, look for a company that specifies expertise with that type of file.

Remember, when looking for a professional data recovery service, it is always a good idea to get multiple quotes and check the Better Business Bureau for complaints.

Bill Gates Made Data Recovery Easy

August 4th, 2008

Bill gates provided a ready made option in Microsoft windows, which is very useful for data recovery.

Several time we make mistakes unknowingly and we lost our data, then we need to recover the data. There are so many data recovery solutions available but most of them are very costly. There may be a very easy way for data recovery.

To use data recovery you can back up your files to CDs, DVDs, external hard drives, other internal hard drives, tape drives, etc. They all work, it’s just that each media choice has it’s own pros and cons regarding ease of use, data storage capacity, and so on. It hardly matter what media you choose for data recovery but the important thing is that it should work.

There are several good backup programs that are very much useful for data recovery job, but Bill gates provided one very good option to do data recovery very easily. Most Microsoft Windows users have a great backup program included with their operating software. If you are a Windows XP user that program is called NT Backup. If it’s not already installed on your computer insert your Windows CD, find the folder titled ValueAdd\MSFT\ntbackup, and run the program in that folder called ntbackup.msi. It will set up the backup software for use on your computer in no time and you will even have simple to use wizards that will walk you through doing file backups and restores simply and easily.

After properly installing the software you can be prepapered for any time data recovery. Probably this is the easiest way to recover your data. Whenever you will need this trick will work and the cost of data recovery will be negligible.

Data Recovery - The Best Method Is Prevention

July 21st, 2008

An Act of Prevention

The best way to protect your data is to prevent problems from happening. Data recovery usually isn’t necessary or at least not complicated at all if you properly back your system up religiously.

That said sometimes computers fail. There are usually warning signs involved before a system crashes. Some classic signs may include strange sounds, popping, frequent crashing, virus attacks or similar problems. Most of the time information lost through a temporary crash is salvageable. You will probably however have to hire a data recovery specialist if a crisis occurs to your computer.

Using Computers Safely

One way to prevent a computer crash and the subsequent need for data recovery is by taking good care of your workstation. Consider your computer not just a source of recreation or education but a lifeline to the outside world. People have increasingly become reliant on computers to handle just about everything, thus when a computer crashes a major crisis occurs.

Fortunately with regular or routine maintenance you may be able to avoid a crash altogether. This includes supplying updated virus protection software and ad ware software that removes potentially damaging programs from your computer. Then of course there is the obvious. You should keep your system away from liquids, food and overly hot conditions. You should clean your keyboard on occasion and make sure you plug your computer into a surge protected outline. You should also periodically free up disk space and clean your computer to make sure it is running optimally. These small steps can help reduce the risk you will lose data in an unexpected crash.
